Private medical expenses are covered by the Region of residence.
This occurs whenever we book a service under the National Health System (NHS) through a ticket at accredited hospitals or centers and they schedule the exam or visit outside the timeframe required to guarantee the healthcare service.
The maximum time limits, which vary depending on the degree of urgency, are 120 days from the request to the CUP for non-urgent cases.
If the date is set after the deadline set by the relevant legislation, the citizen can opt for private treatment and have all expenses reimbursed by the relevant Region/ASL.
